Africa Gold Scam - How it works
The
internet is a vast place and millions are using it all over the world. It easy
for anybody to become somebody on the internet. This post is mostly about how
the gold scam works in Africa. If you come across any seller on the internet
and he started bringing up any of the following that is going to be outline,
then it a scam, believe me. I am not saying all sellers are scammers; there are
few good ones out there too. They use the internet also but believe me when you
are exchanging emails, you will know the scammer from the real. For instance, I
have met online with lot of Sierra Leone sellers but there is only two turns
out to be real.
1. Sierra Gems – Mostly represented by
Andrew Johnson
2. Pegasus Mining Company SL Ltd –
Represented by Simon Williams-Koroma and Bishop Elisha Eddie Howard
T The truth of the matter is that
these two companies also do ask for upfront payments and I understood because
they usually work on commission.
THINGS TO AVOID WHEN DEALING WITH
ONLINE GOLD SELLERS
1. Avoid sending upfront payment unless
you have really verified the company and it genuine
2. Flying down to their country to buy
the gold put you in high risk because there is 99% possibility that you might
end up with no gold and lose your money.
3. If you decide to do FOB make sure
you test all the gold before you pay, not just the sample they give you to
test. In most cases the sample is the only thing that is real.
4. Make sure you refine in a refinery
that you trust and don’t let them take you to the one the sellers choose.
5. Make sure you buy from a company or
an individual that works for the company. I recommend Pegasus Mining Company SL
for gold and Sierra Gems for rough uncut diamonds.
6. Be very vigilant
